New Generation Philanthropy Award 2018 goes to Cole Sydnor

On November 16, National Philanthropy Day, Cole Sydnor received the New Generation Philantropy Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  A YouTube video link is below showing Kelly Merrick’s introduction and Cole’s acceptance speech.

Cole made a commitment to ‘Give Back’ to his community after his injury in 2011 and he tirelessly offers his time and talent to organizations that help others. We are grateful he has been recognized by professionals in the development field who see his efforts and results. Thank you to the Sheltering Arms Foundation (Mac McElroy, Kelly Del Campo Merricks, Lisa Cheney, and Ashley Wallace) for nominating Cole, and to Hunter Leemon of Sportable, Richard Bagby of United Spinal Association of VA, and Rick Kelley – Friend and business partner – for supporting his nomination. Our family is infinitely proud of this young man!

Cole – new Crew Member!

http://s.real.com/uFJG8c

For the first time in 5 1/2 years, he’s back on the James River, this time as a member of the University of Richmond Crew Team. The link above shows some cool footage of the Cole’s big evening, our beautiful river city, and some really great people!

Thank you to UofR Coach Tim Nesselrodt for inviting Cole Sydnor on the team, thank you to both Marielle Rando (Sportable) and Mark Willis (Virginia Boat Club) for your expertise with adaptive rowing, and thanks to the entire UR Crew team – especially Jenn – who partnered with Cole.

Once a few adjustments are made to Cole’s oars (big legs!), it should be smooth rowing!
The Richmond Regatta is April 22 at Rocketts Landing. Come and cheer on this awesome team!

You’re Invited to the Shining Knight Gala, May 6 2017

This year’s 2017 Shining Knight Gala will be held on May 6th at the Richmond Convention Center and you are invited!

RollwithCole NFP is a proud Gold Knight sponsor of this amazing event, thanks to a generous, anonymous donation to our newly formed nonprofit. The Shining Knight Gala honors those who work to save the lives of VCU’s trauma patients and proceeds support the Injury and Violence Prevention Program at VCU.

Please consider joining us for this special evening and help us celebrate the first responders, trauma surgeons, critical care staff, and rehabilitation experts who saved the life of VCU’s Trauma Survivor of the Year, Hanover’s own Denise Gorondy! Meet Denise at the Gala and learn about the hit and run incident that critically injured her while she was out for a morning run and her inspiring road to recovery.

Congratulate Richard Bagby, this year’s recipient of the Cole SydnorTrauma Survivor Giving Back Award. Richard works tirelessly to mentor other trauma survivors and provides lifelong support to many through the United Spinal Association of Virginia. We are incredibly proud of this fine man. Learn about all he has done to give back to our community.

Tickets and sponsorships are available on line. We hope to see you there!

This state of the art facility will serve those with spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke while bringing much needed research and development to our area.

Could not be more proud of the dedicated leadership teams at Sheltering Arms and VCU Health who worked tirelessly to make this dream a reality! Thank you! Now, let’s break ground.
